January Eleventh; A New Drive

Nope, not a new vehicle of transportation. Well maybe, just not one that requires stopping to be filled with the various types of fuel. So, not this definition: a trip or journey in a car. This definition:an innate, biologically determined urge to attain a goal or satisfy a need. (Thank you Google.)

All of life has a driving force, even us humans whether we acknowledge it or not. Wild animals are driven to survive. Domesticated animals, especially those taken in as part of the family are driven to love. Working animals are driven to accomplish the task for which they have been bred. To take a working dog for example and force it to live in a sedentary lifestyle does not usually turn out well, but I get ahead of myself. Humans, also have a drive hardwired into them. The different drives as vast as the different personalities.

The artistic

Those who are driven to create. To dance until the movements flow from them as easily as their blood flows through. To sing better than the birds. As though the singing is as natural as breathing. To master painting to the point the colors of the paints on canvas, rival the colors of the universe and of the soul. Putting words to print, gathering them together to bring about a thought of possibilities, that brings a question, that brings inspiration,  that brings  a drive for answers to the one reading. Sharing creative works that inspire the imagination and creativity of others.

The Charitable

The philanthropist, driven to help others. Drive to help make life a little better, others a little stronger. To help charities help larger groups of those in need.
The individuals who take their time, efforts and gifts to share in ways that help others. Whether it be standing in line handing out food boxes or plates, or giving a coat to one who is cold. Whether it is dropping money into a bucket, hand or organization, or standing out in the weather helping build a home.

The Teacher

Not only those who have taken the time to study and earn the title in a setting of learning but anyone who reaches out in guiding others to know and understand more. Too explain the how and why of things. To feed the curiosity of others so they  seek answers. So they seek further and greater understanding of things as vast as the universe or as small as an insect. To wonder on the expanse of the sea or the desert. To send one on a quest.

Of course I could continue on with this list. But I do believe you get my point on that train of thought. This however, was meant to offer a new drive while all this are obviously not new. It is said, there is nothing new under the sun, https://biblehub.com/ecclesiastes/1-9.htmEverything has been done, and will be done again. Yet maybe we, who have become stagnant, need a new way of seeing, and a new drive to betterment of ourselves and life around us.

I think many of us have become lazy. It is easier to sit at home and complain, then to find ways to make improvements. Under current circumstances, it is easier to sit on the couch, than to get up and exercise. Easier to order fast food delivered than cook a healthy meal. It is easier to blame others, than look inside ourselves.

Indifference is rampant, it is easier to toss trash out the window than wait until we get somewhere it can be disposed of properly. Not caring of the dangers it may pose to whatever comes across that trash. It is easier to sit behind a computer and attack others, than take time to educate yourself on what is truth. Many no longer care of the circumstances of others.

Frustration at the current events and how we are being forced to act differently. The inability to go and come as we please, the things we once enjoyed no longer available.
Fear of what has happened, what is happening, and what may happen in the future has us hiding, or has us attacking.

Depression, has dragged many into a darkness that some do not escape. Others are fighting with all they have.

We need better. We need different. We need new. To be able to stop allowing the negative the world has been feeding us to take hold and seek the Light. To understand that none of this is a surprise. Life itself is filled with storms. This life journey is not meant to be easy. It is a challenge, and a test. https://www.openbible.info/topics/refiners_fire

To live, should be to grow. Not only in knowledge, but in compassion. Precious metals are purified by fire. The chafe is shifted from the wheat. Diamonds are created by the intense pressure on coal. We can be better than diamonds when we seek the right, real and true answers.

We as individuals can feel driven to accomplish various endeavors. Yet we can allow human frailties to prevent accomplishment. I fear that is where many of those who become dependent on chemical addictions are created. Out of the fear of living and trying to follow that drive. Out of a fear of failure. That, is merely my thought.

There is also the possibility that if you take one highly driven, with a lofty goal that attempts to touch the stars, and they are confined by the disbelief and negative response of others, that the drive suffers.

Take the example mentioned above, of the working dog that is forced to live a life opposite of their breeding. A herding dog, for example that is bred to run, to guide flocks, to be able to use that great store of energy and stamina, forced to sit trapped for hours in an enclosed area, suffers. Many times, acting out in ways that are detrimental and destructive.

People do that as well.Feeling trapped, confined, ridiculed and restricted. When our dreams are laughed at, some back away. Dreams and creative drive are lost. Some replace the creative, with destructive. Finding it easier to destroy than build.

We need to find that drive. The drive to create, the drive to build, the drive to seek out better and stronger. I believe, that if we find a drive to understand each other, to accept each other, to encourage each other,to work with each other, we can have a better life, Build a better community and create a better world through love.

The choice of path is ours to make.
