Sharing Something Important

While scrolling through memories this one came up. A message that is relevant, important, and worthy of sharing yet again. The following are the notes I took that morning with nothing changed here so no Italics. Thank you Dr. Minnix for making sure we know and understand God’s truth.

: God’s Call for Decision, an invitation.

Joshua 24:15 Choose you this day.

3 main points as to why you should make a decision to accept the invitation.

1) Important. It is important to choose who you will serve. You cannot stand in the middle, you can not serve two masters. We must let the world know where we stand, it is possible to get information 24/7, but are you getting the right, Godly information or simply what you wish to hear?

a) for those lost, it is a critical issue. Unless you have Jesus Christ in your life you are lost. Jesus came, so we could be born again, born into a relationship with God.

b) to the lethargic, to those who have grown too comfortable in where we are. We should always be a little uncomfortable in where we are, striving to grow and learn, striving to be better, pressing on to be better, to know God more, to be able to share God’s word better. How much are you straining forward to be better? Is it time, to make a new commitment?

2) Individual (you) All to some point hold with in them a spiritual deflector, thinking that all messages are for someone else. We must hear and make our decisions for ourselves. God expects us to individually respond to what we are called for, our responsibilities.

a) God’s Word records it. Ezekiel 18:20; 1 Corinthians 3:8; Galatians 6:5 & 7

b) God’s will requires it. During our life, or at the end of it. We will be judged at the Bema Seat of Christ. Hebrews 2:3; Romans 14:12 When all that was in our life not of Christ is burned away, what is left is what we did in life for God and His kingdom. We will give an accounting. Is there a deeper commitment needed in our life? God is the problem solver and life giver. It is where you will it to be. Seek God and you will find Him. when you seek, He will make Himself available.

It was here that Dr. Minnix told this story (paraphrased as I remember) to make his point. A young boy had heard of the old man on a hill who was wise and new everything. He new all riddles and questions. This boy decided that he was going to fool the old man. He thought for a while then started up the hill. One the way he caught a small bird and held it in his hand.when he got to the man, the man asked, “what is it you want from me?” The boy told him, I have a bird in my hand, is it alive or dead? He had already figured out how to fool the man. If the man said it was alive, he was going to crush it in his hand and open his hand saying no, its dead. But if the man said it was dead, then he was going to open his hand to allow it to fly away again, with a not its alive. That is when the man responded with, “It is as you will it.” Such is our faith, it is, as we will it.

3) It is Immediate (this day) The time for us to decide is right now, how we are to be, a better parent, a better spouse, a better Believer. God is calling us to decide and to act. We are not promised tomorrow.

a)Lost service Jeremiah 5:25 The things you are doing wrong, or not doing, are holding back your blessings. How many blessings are we missing if we are not walking closely with God?

b) lost souls Sorry philosophy, is where one thinks they can do what they want, souls without God are lost forever. You can be religious, and be lost. It is not religion, but a relationship that is where we are saved. Belief in Christ and a close walk.
