February Twenty-third; If Only

Some people..not all, but some people..

How is it, we are still dealing with so much hurtfulness? Why, do we deliberately strike out in ways to cause pain to others? Not everyone, but so many do this. Seeking ways to denigrate those around us, showing the ugliness that resides within.

The young want to insult the older and the older the young. Neither understanding or seeking to understand each other. A confusion as old as time. As time changes so do the interests and actions of the young often leaving those older lost. Technology being one example. Today’s technology having far advanced from the days of a television with three channels, a phone attached to the wall, zoom calls a thing seen in cartoons. Some of the older generations struggle to learn and understand, simply because it is not something they grew up with as today’s youth have. And yet, the older have abilities and knowledge of things many of  the younger do not. Growing and preserving food, repairing the broken or torn, being a walking history lesson of life. Both, can learn from the other, if they would stop, open eyes, ears and heart, willing to listen and comprehend.

Those who hold a level of fame acting superior to those who do not. Whether they are actor, influencer, athlete, or any other position that gives them attention of the crowd. Many may see themselves as more important, better, placing themselves on a pedestal where they don’t belong. Looking down on those who work the less visible jobs. Yet it is the server in the restaurant who brings your food. It is the mechanic who keeps your cars running. The electrician, the plumber, the roofer who keeps your home as it should be. It is the nurse, the doctor, the various levels of medical team, who help keep you healthy.

Those who have against those who have not.  In the past, I have witnessed people shaking their head as they walk past those who are in need. Who asked, for anything. Those who are homeless, those who are unemployed, asking for, anything. Some with their cardboard sign, a message scrawled in marker, standing on the side of the road, hoping. I’ve heard all the reasons many don’t give, are told not to give. I’ve heard and read of how there are jobs out there, how everyone is hiring. I’ve also heard that to get a job, you need an address, if you have no home, how can you have an address? True or not, I don’t know. Yet, there are many reasons preventing some from being employed. There are many reasons they cannot get help through organized charities. My point, if you choose to or not to give, that is your choice, but don’t insult, don’t ridicule or look down on the needy. Remember, there but by the grace of God go you.

Those who are different. It hurts my heart, that this world is still so racially divided. Every moment, every day it is still us against them. White folk, we are not the end all be all. We are not perfect and we are not better than anyone. If you think you are, you are wrong. It was due to man’s arrogance and attitude that God separated us through the creation of different languages. https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-stories/the-tower-of-babel.html He created us, then made us different. In that difference, we are not made less.

No matter the color of our skin or where we may be from, we are each important and worthy. No matter our social status, our financial status, or any other man created status position, we are each important and worthy. No one is greater and no one is less. No one has a right to pass judgement on another because their position is different. We are warned about judging others, https://www.biblehub.com/matthew/7-2.htm

I believe, that if we would seek understanding, live would be better. If we would accept the knowledge that we are all worthy, life would be better. If we would understand that there is no supreme race, life would be better. If we would seek to love our neighbor, and our neighbor is everyone, life would be better. If we would seek to help as the good Samaritan did, life would be better. https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-stories/the-good-samaritan-bible-story.html If we took care of the orphans and widows, life would be better. If we lived a Christ like life, of love, compassion, peace, life would be better.

So often now we see signs of black lives matter, they do. White lives matter, they do. Babies lives matter, they do. Police lives matter, they do. All lives matter, because we were created for a purpose. We each have a purpose and a gift. If only we would use those for making life better. If only we sought to be the difference rather than the problem. If only, we sowed seeds of love and hope rather than hate and prejudice. If only, we saw each other as God sees us. Worthy.

A flower garden is beautiful in its diversity. So is humanity.

  1. John says:

A great post, Rebecca. I think it’s the fallen nature of mankind, the evil one, causing the consternation in the world today. Year by year it’s getting worse while the devil laughs with delight. We need Jesus very much!
