December Seventeenth; Thoughts of Those in Need, and Those Seeking to Help Answer the Call

Part of me wishes I could go. The responsible part knows I have to be here.

Tonight some of the members of Just Jeepin for a Cause, will be headed for Kentucky. Two semis, at least one smaller trailer and several jeeps will form a convoy filled with donations. I would love to be a part. I would love to see the expressions when they roll into the staging area. I have to be here though for my parents. I really don’t mind that, I know how blessed I am they are still with us.

It helps that I have been able to bring something to add, thanks to others who donated. I wish I could do more. I’m seeing though the actions of those local, how large and giving their hearts are. I’m seeing the photos of those already in the areas destroyed and what they are doing. Boots on the ground y’all.

Reports I’ve seen said that storm traveled well over two hundred miles. That is a long, horrible path of destruction and death. Even as the warnings went out, there is only so much one can do for safety. Many were doing all they knew, and still suffered.

Then, days later, another stretch of storms hit. Areas are dealing with tornadoes, winter weather, extreme winds, floods, fires. I do not care what you call it, where you say the cause rests. The issues are that people are being injured and killed. Towns are being leveled leaving people homeless. Everything gone. Some are dealing with the loss of homes and jobs, some are suffering through the loss of loved ones. A nation has been left in shock at what we are seeing.

But.

We do not stay still. As a nation we mobilize and we get to work. Boots hit the ground and hands are put into action. Hearts and wallets are opened. And it is done swiftly. As in the Jeep group’s drive. At the first of the week it was mentioned. Whether it was the next day or two days later, doesn’t matter. Suddenly, they were gifted with a semi, which the trailer very quickly became filled. Yesterday, they had a second semi and that trailer was loaded quickly though there is still some room. Within days, not weeks, days, two fifty-two feet long trailers were filled with donations. They have more but still need some things.

There have been many incidents that have seen this nation come together. When there is loss, when there is need, when there is suffering, we stop the infighting and we pull together. Those who were in the path of that storm and other incidents, are in deep, desperate need. Many are seeking to answer that need.

Donations that have been asked for

Water/Gatorade

non-perishable foods

diapers

blankets

hygiene products

pet food

toys for the children

A lot of prayers. For the needs to be answered. For those who are there working and helping to be safe. For the donations needed and the help to distribute donations to those in need.

They are leaving in a few hours. I wish I could go with them. Physically I cannot, through prayers..I will.

Prayers for safe journies there and back again
