My heart weeps.
I am sitting here, my world is as usual. Outside, the last of the day’s light is fading, the crickets and night birds are singing their night symphony. The not so stray cats are doing their alterations between settling down, and revving up for the night. A cool breeze drifts in through the windows while the temperature still shows it to be near eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Quiet, peaceful, usual. A world protected from much of the issues of the world. But not the news.
Many of us have watched the progression of the search for Gabby Petito, the twenty-two year old who has been missing. She was last known to be in Wyoming in the vicinity of the Grand Teton National Park. We read the reports, we followed the investigation. We were and yet were not surprised when her boyfriend who returned home without her, suddenly disappeared and has yet to be found.
Today,a body was found that “is consistent with the description of Gabby Petito” was found. Forensic testing needs to be done, but her family has been notified. The cause of death was either not known, or not shared. Without any cause given, without any proof, we cannot say that she was murdered or if so, by whom. All we know, they have found a body.
My heart weeps for the family.
My heart also weeps for humanity. We seem to have reached a position where life means so little. Maybe we have always been this way and now we simply have the means to spread the information quicker. But…why?
How could we have so little regard for others, for the life of others, that it can be taken so easily and callously? Do we have so little heart and respect for life, that it is so easy to end life? Yes, death is inevitable, but it shouldn’t be by murder.
Have we become a society where for so many, what -we- want is what is important and if others do not agree, do not follow along and bend to our will, then it is perfectly fine to end their existence? What gives anyone the right to feel that they hold control over the life and actions of another? What ever the age, what ever the gender, what ever any part of who they are. Side note, we don’t.
If someone makes us angry, walk away.
If someone doesn’t return the same romantic feelings, walk away.
If someone mistreats you, that does not give you right to retaliate physically.
We have no right, to break into the home or business of another, we have no right, to steal. Taking what doesn’t belong to us. Risking harm to another in the process.
Life, is precious. Life is a gift. Life is to be treasured and respected.
Right now, my heart weeps for the family of Gabby Petito. My heart cries over any and all deaths that are brought on by the acts of another. Even those acts brought about by one driving under the influence of any substance that alters ones ability. Those who aren’t paying attention to the road but to their phone or other device. Those who are driving recklessly. Those who in acts of carelessness and irresponsibility, cause the death of another.
Have we as a society, no matter the country, cheapened life to the degree and level that we feel that to take away the life of another, is okay? Every day, we see the reports. A person is missing. A body has been found. Drive by shootings have taken a life. So many different ways, so many different lives gone. My heart weeps for those lost, and for the families left who will forever miss their loved one.

I’m right there with you. Definitely a sad day!!!
I really had hopes for a different answer even though I feared the worst ..so sad..
Same here. Hope is what keeps us going.
Yes, it really is.
Amen. May God bless Gabby and her family. 🙏🏻✝️😭
yes.
Heartbreaking
It is, when even when we feared, we still hoped.
It is just so sad.
It really is.
Yes to your post, our world has come to that state just as God said it would. He said, men will be lovers of self. Short verse that pacts so much truth. It makes one want to pull away from it all but I know that is not what God wants. People are hurting and because of that some are seeking and it’s those seekers a believer can speak truth and maybe, just maybe someone will be brought from death to life. Heartfelt post.
Which is true. I recall growing up hearing of what was to come. How sad and terrible and dangerous it would be. I did not fully realize the possibility of living through that time. My only hope and prayer is that I an others can be messengers of truth, can be tools in the hands of God in the hope for those who are seeking.
soooo sad! sending a hug🤗
Thank you Cindy.
You’re so welcome! 💕
