Tomorrow is the last day of Vacation Bible School, its going to feel so strange not going. This has been one of the best weeks ever. Those kids have all been so amazing.
This morning while we were all waiting outside for everyone to arrive, one of the kids found a very tiny toad hopping across the walkway. I did manage to get them to leave that alone, I couldn’t save the spider that was actually an ant. That one was quickly squashed, may it rest in insect heaven. When it was time to go into the building one of the boys realized that his mom had not given him his offering for the day. Money is being collected for the local children’s home and there is a competition between the boys and girls to see who can raised the most. So far the boys are ahead. Anyway, this child was in an absolute panic because he didn’t have any money. Someone offered to give him some money, but before they got back his mom had shown up and given him his dollar. I for one was glad because he was beyond upset.
From the morning start, to the first class and a story and games, then to music where they learned the next song. I really love watching these kids because as I said earlier, they are so uninhibited and immediately try the moves, learning them quickly. Much quicker than this no longer young lady.
Snacks and lessons on missions and more crafts. This time a cross to be decorated.
Gathering in the sanctuary for the review of the day and showing off how well you could do the dance, suddenly it was the teachers turn to go on stage and see if they could do the dance. I tried, I really did. I also hid behind a student helper so I was less visible. Practicing didn’t really help me a great deal but I got up there and I tried. So far no video evidence has shown up.
Tomorrow we will have to clean up the room, taking down all of the decorations and posters. The room has to be ready for the next class using it so I get to work on that with help from the other helpers while the kids are in music class. Its going to add to the sadness but, all good things come to an end right?
I didn’t sleep all that well last night so after getting home right after lunch I was very sleepy. I was fighting sleep when my son called and needed me to do him a favor. I really don’t mind as I didn’t want to sit here and nap.
I still haven’t discovered where mom kitty has moved her babies to this time. They may be under the house because she is staying close but I haven’t heard them. I did go out and bring in the dry food that they hadn’t eaten. I don’t need to be feeding raccoons.
But we did feed the children. Some good messages, good time, games, dancing and songs and creative crafts. They spent a few hours a day with other kids and seemed to enjoy themselves…most of the time. We fed them structure, accountability, responsibility, at their level. While still allowing them to be children. I hope they remember this week.. I know I will.

You absolute darling for helping give these children a wonderful time. xx
You should see the others. These people are so patient and calm while dealing with thousands of questions and weird off the wall comments. Being able to share this with them is almost as special as being with the kids.
Okay, I’m not exactly sure what happened, but your question about my toe is gone. So I’ll answer here, its okay and doesn’t hurt too bad as long as I’m careful. Thank you so much for asking.
I still remember my VBS days so long ago. Good work
Thank you. It really has been so much fun. But then, my part has been of being a helper and that did make it a bit easier 😉
Your response made me think of something I read earlier this week that has stayed with me: I am here to be of use as joyfully as possible
I love that! Thank you!
