February Twenty-fourth; To enjoy or Not To Enjoy, That is the Question

By now it is no secret. I really enjoy starting my day by sitting here, watching the sun come up over the trees and drinking my coffee. The routine has been set.

I’ve spoken with mom, she as usual really bragged on my son and his help yesterday with that DVD player. He really does have a deep love for his grandparents, which I’m glad. Maybe its the magic of this place, and that a lot of the strength of that magic, comes from family love.

I know one thing, I am going to enjoy this day. The weather prognosticators have said that it should be seventy degrees Fahrenheit twenty-one Celsius. Seventy sounds better to me, it sounds much warmer. I’m seriously considering a hike up the mountain side. I know my sweet canine companion Bella would enjoy it as well. She enjoys them so much if she even thinks I’m thinking about going, she’s headed for her leash.I don’t blame her at all. Hiking up there brings this amazing feeling. Even though it is a popular spot to get outdoors and enjoy nature, when I’m away from the others it is very peaceful. There is plenty of time for quiet contemplation and healing of the soul. Its a nice long walk down the hill back to the parking area so plenty of time to simply enjoy the moment.

I can and do enjoy the hikes behind the house as well. Being able to sit beside the pond or follow the creeks and listen to the water as it splashes over the rocks is a special kind of peace.

Side note, I did not just enjoy the sudden power outage. Right in the middle of typing a word everything goes black. Checking the company site it said that the power would not be back until almost three this afternoon. Thankfully they lied and its back, and thankfully everything I had written was still here and not fallen off into one of those internet black holes.

I do seem to enjoy tormenting myself in various ways. I have a bad habit of creating wild and weird passwords, writing them down on any scrap of paper handy and then with full intention of writing them in my book, misplacing the scrap of paper before I get that accomplished. I enjoyed one of those search missions this morning.

There are still items though which I have put in a safe place, that is apparently safe even from me.

What do I enjoy? Other than the bleeding of words onto paper and hikes? Photography, fishing, reading, painting, long rides to new places, conversations with friends. The list grows long because I have discovered that I can enjoy most of what goes on around me.

We all have those things that we enjoy and also do not enjoy. A lot of those are being brought out to us more and more under the situations we are facing. I believe, that more of us are finding enjoyment in the simpler things of life. That first cup of coffee in the morning, chats with friends, enjoying days of sunlight after many days of rain, snow or simply clouds.

I think that is what is important right now, to find something that we can find enjoyment doing. From getting together with family and friends, to sitting on a bench and watching life, to finding a moment of quiet. Of course there is are other events that are slowly coming back to us. Hopefully soon we will again be able to enjoy the things we once took for granted.

The one thing I have found in all of this we have dealt with for the last year, is that even though everything we have known has changed, one has not. God, never changes; https://www.openbible.info/topics/how_god_never_changes

Knowing that He is always the same, never changing when everything else around us has and is constantly changing is very reassuring. He knows everything that is going on, He has not lost control of the situation. He is always with us. In that, I find peace, I find hope, I find enjoyment;https://www.openbible.info/topics/enjoyment

(Thank you Christopher for the photo.) The weather may change, night will change to day, we change moment by moment. God never changes.
