Day Fifty-five; Footnotes of Day Dreaming of Spring and Other Thoughts

Daffodils. I watch for the daffodils.

When I see them beginning to bloom, I know we have reached a special milestone. I know, it is still possible for Winter to still show up and show out. It isn’t over by any means, but its time is running out here.

And the daffodils, are blooming.

Today was an incredibly gorgeous day. The temperature hovering around seventy, the sky gloriously clear. I took advantage of it and Bella and I hiked the mountain. I mentioned that trip in the previous blog.

But this is about the daffodils.

After we had gotten back home and rested up a bit, I noticed that I only needed a little over a thousand steps to reach my ten thousand step goal. I haven’t reached that goal but one time over the winter, as close as I was, I wanted to reach it again. So I headed out to walk in my little thinking circle. That was when I saw the daffodils in full bloom. Clumps of them around the area, some budding, some fully opened.

Like small collections of sunshine waiting to be seen, and photographed. So I did.

I haven’t been pulling my jeep into the carport lately because of the cats. Its difficult to get the covering on the Jeep when it is inside so I pulled it up close and left it there. I could still hear the cats in the carport. Today, I saw what they are doing since the car is no longer a springboard. There is an old set of shelves on one side. They are climbing up that to the boards that run across the back of the carport to where it connects to the rest of the house and climbing under the eaves.

My son and I are working on a plan to stop that ASAP. Its bad enough they are under the house, I don’t need them in the ceiling as well.I never did find the dish that disappeared this morning. The cats have never carried one off before. I guess as I said, one of them wanted their breakfast to go, so it went.

I’m very sore from that fall today. I guess my age is beginning to show a bit. Weather permitting though I plan on going back tomorrow and try to work some of the soreness out. Until then, I think a long soak in a tub of hot water and epsom salt sounds good.
