January Seventh; Taking a New Road

I, personally, am embarrassed.

As a general rule, I do not talk politics. (This, is not a political write, so please refrain from political comments) It is a topic that is perfect tinder for arguments. Dare to mention one candidate, one position, one political belief and the fire is lit. The battle is on. This entire process has been blowing up before us for years. The side that disagrees making it difficult for the other to work. This entire debacle has cost us much.

We have lost the ability to communicate.

We no longer have conversations, we have arguments and outright fights. Friendships are broken and families destroyed. Blame, accusations and outright lies from all sides are tossed about like confetti. We no longer discuss ways to make life better. Not only in politics, but on all topics. We no longer discuss growth. We long ago stopped discussing positive, we are too busy tearing each other apart. How, could we have fallen this far? Conspiracy theories abound. Some I would guess are even possibly true, while others outlandish to the point of being laughable. But what happened yesterday, was not laughable. It was embarrassing.

We have lost the ability to believe.

With all the confusion going on around us, who is being truthful? Is anyone being truthful? Do they really want the best for the people and this country? Do they want what is best for them and their pocket? Why do certain groups or even other countries, get funded, while people here, go without? Why, does it seem that there are levels of justice? Why, does it seem that we are being guided to division? By all sides?  I’m not talking politics here, I’m talking humanity. Wondering through printed word, if this political system has taken that from us? Who do we believe, what do we believe? Do we even dare believe any longer? What has happened to this country? I think, that we are being pitted against each other on all levels. The rule of war, divide and conquer. Consider this: https://biblehub.com/mark/3-24.htm a house divided against itself, cannot stand. What do we believe? Who do we, can we believe?

We have lost the ability to stand for what is right.

Because right keeps changing? There is nothing in this world that is new, that has never been before. The levels have simply escalated. The darkness has deepened and evil grown more powerful. We have been given ways that could teach, expand, and grow us into better people. Instead it is more readily used to spread hatred, ignorance and evil.

The internet alone, where we could come together and share knowledge is used to hurt the trusting, steal from the unprotected and using the anonymity provided to troll and attack. Conversations turn into arguments in the click of a keyboard. A bully’s way of amusing themselves at the expense of others.

But what, is right? How is that determined in an every changing and shrinking world? Different people believe different ways and things. Who is right, who is wrong and who makes the determination? Who are we, to think that we are judge of others?   https://biblehub.com/matthew/7-1.htm. Do not judge, or you will be judged.
If we love, honestly love our brothers, can we do them harm? If we love others, a true, honest, unconditional love, can we do anything other than what is right?

We have lost trust.

We have lost trust in our government, in the system itself, even in each other. We have lost trust in our society, as many others have theirs before us. Yes, systems can be perverted and used fraudulently. Everything created by man can be rigged and abused. Man himself, can assume control through the perversion of systems or people. History holds the knowledge of incidents that happened relatively peacefully, or through bloody battles.  This holds true not only in the take over of countries but of business and even families.

Knowing this, how do we find the honesty to make sure things are done as they should? People being human with human weaknesses, can be persuaded through their own greed or the lies of others to assist or to actually do wrong. How do we face this? How, do we change this, is it even possible? When it seems that evil becomes the richer and more powerful? Whom do we trust and trust fully? Why and how, do we live honestly? https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-honesty-and-integrity

We need a new road.

We need to understand all that we have faced and seek out better than that. The things that have happened, not only due to the election but other events through the last year, have been embarrassing and frightening. We are struggling, fighting among ourselves when we shouldn’t. Lashing out at each other, tearing apart the very fibers of who we are.

Have we been lead to this? Goaded on all sides by those with ulterior motives? Deceived slowly over time? Whether we have or have not, we have fallen. We have turned off the proper road and onto a detour that has taken us into a troubled way.

We need a new road to travel. New, meaning different, from the road we currently find ourselves walking. A new road, where we walk together. Working together to create better from the ashes of the fires that have burned. New, building up from what was damaged.

We are not a weak people, yet we are stumbling.

We are not an ignorant people, but we are showing an illiteracy in our knowledge of the past and how to prevent a repeat occurrence. An ignorance in who we are and how far we have traveled.

We are not a hateful people, but we are showing a great lack of compassion. A lack of tolerance in the differences that make us human. A lack of compassion in the needs of others, in their pain and suffering. A severe lack of heart.

We need a new road of light. Where the way before us is more clear and accessible.
We need a new road of growth. We need a road of peace. We need a new road of understanding. We need a new road of education. We need a new road of compassion. We need a new road that will take us to where we need to be, with love.

Isaiah 35:8
And there will be a highway called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel it–only those who walk in the Way–and fools will not stray onto it.

https://biblehub.com/matthew/7-14.htm

The journey will not be easy, but the destination worth the travel.

I agree with the points you made. Decorum and consideration are pretty much lost to us.

    • I fear, that rather than progressing to better, we are instead going backward. Digressing to a position of darkness, ignorance, and hate. We should be, we are better than this. Thank you Henya, for your visit and comments.
