January Third; A New Journey

Could it be to the center of the earth? Could it be to where no man has gone before? Could it be, out the front door and down the street? With the new year opening up, I believe that this is a new journey, or it can be, if we so choose.

We have a variety ways to look at what is before us.

We can look with dread, fearing that too much of the past year lingers, holding onto and pulling itself into the new year. That nothing is going to change and we will still be trapped in a dark, dreadful world or hardship and sadness. That lock downs and distancing will continue and we will grow more and more apart and depressed.  Fear of what is or what might be a demon that will not be exorcised.

Seeing what has happened since all of this began with clear eyes and mind. Understanding that there is a very real pandemic going on around the world and we much act in a responsible manner. To take precautions does not mean being controlled. It is also watching to see if and when those rules of responsibility are pushed too far that there is concern. That a lot of not good things, have happened in the last months, a lot of people have and are suffering.

We can look toward a better future. We can set out to do everything we can to make it better, for ourselves and those around us. We have been forced to make changes, that does not mean we have to separate ourselves from society completely. We are a social group. We are internally designed to be drawn to each other. We cannot allow a pandemic to rewire us to a point that we no longer are drawn to be together.

That through what ever means, the pandemic will end, the confusion of the year will end. That it will be a better day ahead and we will gather together, we will be able to return to what was before but in a better, smarter, safer way. That we will laugh, sing and dance again.

That is our new journey, to reach the new day, new hope, new happiness. I don’t think that it will be an easy journey, there are too many detours and roadblocks in the roadway we are on. That does not make it impossible. As long as we hold within a determination to make it happen, to make it so. We can accomplish this. We can gear up with the essentials we need, we can pull on our hiking boots, set our mind to the journey and start out. In faith, trust and anticipation toward that new beginning.

When the paths converge, the choice of direction is yours.
