Tomorrow, just a few hours away, is Christmas Eve. Tomorrow, we will no longer be counting down the days. Tomorrow, we will be counting down the hours.
Have we had any luck in finding the reason for the season?
Yes, I’ve seen shoppers being kinder, moving out of the way of other customers. I’ve witnessed store employees, even though tired beyond tired, being courteous to their customers.
Yes, I’ve seen drivers out and about, letting those waiting, out and onto the roadway. No blaring horns, no rude hand signs. Just a simple gesture.
Yes, I’ve had lovely conversations with old friends and new.
Yes, I’ve watched acts of kindness, charity and out right compassion as folks seek to help those in need.
But while all of these and other acts are nice, are they the reason?
Stores have been packed with shoppers seeking the one prefect gift.
Toy runs have been in abundance seeking to make sure no child does without. Food has been given out on a near regular basis.
Movies, and animated specials fill the television screens.
Still I ask, is this, the reason?
Or is the reason, something very different, very special? A small baby born in the night. A small baby born, to show love. A small baby, born to save the world.
