December Twelfth; If I Could Give a Gift

Can anything be better, than something or someone being genuine?

How many have watched those programs or read an article about someone who had an item in their possession that turned out to be worth a great deal of money? A family member had passed down an item that may have been one of the ugliest things ever seen. A painting that had hung on the wall in grandma’s house, or a piece of jewelry that didn’t seem special, but when appraised was mind blowing. An individual walks into a thrift shop, or at a yard sale and on a hunch purchases an item that has the same effect.

Because it turned out to be the real deal. A painting done by a past master artist, or a junk box  with diamond jewelry in a pouch in the bottom.

Maybe you pay a visit to one of those tourist places where you mine for your own gems and bring out a record breaker.

Maybe you’re hiking and somehow kick up the bones of a dinosaur long gone, or see an animal thought extinct run across your path.

Genuine and real and something that pumps up the excitement level a thousand fold.

Now, take that genuine, and put it in the heart of a family member or friend. The person who is always there when you have a need.

The person who picks up on your feelings and knows when your fine, isn’t true.

The person who, the moment they hear of a problem, lets you know they are there for you.No matter what. In what ever way is needed.

The person who will come and help you or fully do for you when you can’t. The person who will walk with you, or sit quietly when words aren’t needed.

The person, who walks in and takes charge and sees that things happen. When you simply cannot.

The person who brings a smile and a desert for now reason.

The person who drives up and shouts, lets go. When the destination is nowhere specific.

The person, who when it matters the most, lets you know by actions more than words, their friendship, is genuine. And that, is the gift, I would give, genuine friendship.
