Day 307- Footnotes of election eve…America, have you voted yet?

We are finally here, have you voted yet?

Tomorrow is THE day. Election day. I’m so very glad. Not just because we will finally decide this, but for so much more. I’m weary of all of this. For so long now we have been listening to the candidates campaigning. Each one trashing the other, each one making promises. Each one doing all they can to drive us to the point of enough already!

I do not watch a great deal of television. I don’t watch any at all right now because of all the political commercials. I can’t tell you a single thing any of them are saying they will accomplish, but they sure tell what their opponent has supposedly done wrong. I love playing the radio -loud- in my car. Or at least I did, and I will again, soon, very soon. Every time I long online, the first thing I see are all the articles of what this, that or the other have done wrong.

What……are….y’all….going to do, to make things better? What, are you going to do, to help the people? What are you going to do about..

My poor phone is loaded down with text messages begging me to vote. I voted weeks ago, leave me alone. But they come, every few minutes I get another one. Begging me to vote, begging me to donate. I’m not working, I lost my job to covid,  y’all couldn’t agree on any stimulus help, I have no money to donate to anyone. Its worse when I’m driving, trying to listen to the radio and suddenly the music is gone and I hear “New Text message from” and some long number. I can’t hit ignore fast enough.

The postal service must be loving it though, or maybe not. Every day my mailbox is filled with campaign mail. Letters and postcards claiming to be the best and going to do the most. As far as I’m concerned, you could have saved all that money you spent on mailings, commercials and radio spots and put it toward helping the suffering. People are hungry, afraid, cold, wondering what they are going to do, and you spend thousands on stuff that is just going to be thrown away or ignored. Annoying stuff that has us all so very weary and ready for it to be over already.

But when its over. When whoever takes home the prize. When the dust settles. Can we act like grownups and stop this name calling, back biting, refusing to work together garbage and get something done? You have spent way too much time trash talking and refusing to work together, throwing blame on each other, trying to act all and be all important while American and her people suffer. Can we stand up and act, no, be responsible adults who cares about each other and prove it by accomplishing what is needed to help the ones in need.

Can we stop the deliberate dividing of the people?

Can we stop the deliberate destruction?

Can we stop, placing blame everywhere but where the blame goes?

Yes, there are problems. Yes there are good and bad people of all races, of all professions, of all. You do not throw out everything because of one or two bad. You get rid of the bad and strengthen the good.

In a few hours, election day will be here and the final count down will begin.  Then, when the dust settles, when all is decided, we will see, just what will come. No matter who takes home the prize, God please help this land and its people.

 I voted weeks ago…have you?
